Day 1: Arrival in Tangier – The Crossroads of Civilizations

Day 4: Exploring Fes – The Heart of Moroccan Culture

The fourth day is dedicated to exploring Fes, one of the most historically significant and culturally rich cities in Morocco. Begin your guided tour in the Fes el Bali medina, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the largest car-free urban areas in the world.

Visit the University of Al Quaraouiyine, recognized as the world’s oldest existing educational institution, and the Bou Inania Madrasa, a masterpiece of Marinid architecture. Explore the Chouara Tannery, where leather is processed using traditional methods. The vibrant colors of the dyeing vats make for a unique and photogenic experience.

Your tour will also include visits to the Mellah (Jewish Quarter), the Royal Palace, and the Dar Batha Museum, which showcases traditional Moroccan arts and crafts.

Day 5: Fes to Merzouga – Entering the Sahara Desert

As you travel south, the landscape shifts dramatically from lush greenery to the arid, rocky terrain of the Middle Atlas Mountains. Along the way, you’ll pass through Ifrane, a charming town known as the “Switzerland of Morocco,” and the cedar forests of Azrou, home to Barbary apes.

Continuing through the Ziz Valley, you’ll witness stunning palm groves and traditional Berber villages before reaching Merzouga, a small town on the edge of the Sahara Desert. Here, you’ll experience a camel trek into the desert, where you’ll watch the sunset over the towering dunes of Erg Chebbi.

Spend the night in a traditional Berber camp, enjoying a dinner under the stars, accompanied by the rhythms of local music. This immersive desert experience is often the highlight of many travelers’ Moroccan adventures.

Day 6: Merzouga to Marrakech via Ouarzazate – Crossing the Atlas Mountains
